This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely. Forklift truck means a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other arms that can be raised 900 mm or more above the ground, but does not include a pedestrian-operated truck or a pallet truck.

A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck high risk work (HRW) licence.

This unit includes the following knowledge and skills plan the work, conduct routine checks on a forklift truck, shift loads in a safe manner, and safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations.

This unit it typically undertaken by those who are in (or looking to get into) operational roles in the warehousing, manufacturing, construction, resources and transport industries.

Face to face training and assessment is conducted at one of Tectra Australia purpose built training facilities. Upon arrangement, training and assessment can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there a suitable infrastructure and industry training facilities.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Tectra Australia Pty Ltd (RTO 40889).

Recognition Of Prior Learning And Credit Transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the acknowledgement of a persons current skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience.

Credit Transfer (CT) is the granting of credit to an individual for units of competency / modules previous completed.

Equipment & PPE Requirements

Tectra Australia supply all equipment necessary for all students to undertake training and encourage students to bring along their own relevant equipment, procedures and other information.

For our public courses at our purpose built training facilities trainees must wear suitable clothing (t-shirt, pants and closed in footwear as a minimum).
